Slacker is Thy Name

Yes, I know I have been truly slacking here the last week. But I can only blame PREGNANCY. I have been very restless and sitting on the computer for any length of time has not been something I have wanted to do lately.

So a quick update before my body decides it is through sitting here.....
I am at the weekly stages in my pre-natal appointments but wound up there twice this week due to dizzy spells. With one I actually lost my footing and fell so I called it in. So more bloodwork was ordered and my blood count is still low. So now I am on new iron pills to try to help it.
Lots still left to do around the house to prep for baby. This weekend we have plans to paint the boys' rooms and clean their rugs so hopefully I will be able to cross those off the list.

28 days to go util the due date. Can't believe how fast it went. Wow!

Okay my lower back is telling me enough for now....I'll update again soon

Hump Day

Feels like it should be Friday already.....

We finally finished and officially filed our taxes thanks to having to wait for some documents from my boss, aka pain in the ass BIL last night! Well I had them all worked out already but needed the official forms from BIL to file and it was a good thing I waited since there was some discrepancies but that's a whole other story that I do not want to rehash! Good news is we get a refund!!! So can't wait for that money to get into the bank account so I can finish up baby shopping and buy the stuff to fix up the kids' rooms before baby comes next month and pay off our vacation balance early for the summer and then put the rest away.

I could not sleep last night to save my life. My head was too busy trying to process too much stuff - stuff to do, stuff I need to buy, worries about this that and the other, etc. So I have been awake since 3:20am!!! And it is starting to take its toll as I sit here not wanting to do a darn thing other than sleep. I actually broke down and hit Publix after dropping Bam-Bam off at school and bought coffee to make - NOT decaf but regular. So you have to know I was really dragging this morning to do that! Poor Papa Bear woke up in a panic this morning when I was not in bed, in the bathroom or living room but calmed down once he saw me at the dining room table on the laptop. This was at about 4:30am so he was just waking up. He skipped the gym and sat with me at the table for an hour gabbing about baby stuff and house stuff and our new working arrangements we are setting up for me.

I currently work for my BIL's business from home refurbishing laptop backs that he then resells. This means that after I prep them they need to be painted - which my hubby does in the paint booth in our garage. Well hubby's main job has become quite demanding recently with all of his new responsibilities since the manager was let go so he has rarely any time to paint these. My MIL however who also works for my BIL wants to help out for extra money. So as it turns out we will be starting to work with her next week. I will do the first prep stage of the parts and drop them at her house where we will move all of the paint stuff to and she will do the paint stages and we will split the money 50/50. She is very excited since she needs the extra money. The only thing that worries me is that I will now be making half of what I did before - but at the same time hubby is bringing home more with all of the overtime he has in and will have for the next few months at least. So I am hoping it all works out okay. Worst case senario is we don't do as many recreational things as before but we still pay the bills! :) So can't complain too much can I???

Now saying that...we are skipping out on our Italy trip for August 2007 since we will need to use hubby's bonus in September to fund home improvements to prep the house to sell when the North Carolina office opens. BUT - my darling friend, AHEM - Allison! gave me this nasty little link to Disney Cruise Line's new Mediterranean Cruises!!! And like an idiot I passed it on to my hubby who now is all gung-ho to find a way to book one! So much for saving the money for home improvements!! :) I'm guessing he'll change his mind on that as North Carolina progresses more because I know he really wants to move there asap!

Okay I have had 2 cups of coffee *WITH* caffeine so I am a little blabber-mouth-like at the moment which should explain the blabbering post! Thanks for reading if you made it this far!!! :)

Monday Memories

Monday Memories: Did I ever tell you about Swimming in the Fountains on Campus?

I went to college when I was 17 at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida. This was not a huge school by any means. At the time it was more known for its Liberal Arts programs. There was a huge enrollment there when I went for education majors, which I was and their music program. As a freshman, I was quite the joiner and did anything and everything I could on campus with groups and clubs. By the second semester of my freshman year I rushed and was a Greek - Zeta Tau Alpha.

Having fun around campus was always pretty easy....parties, local bars, events, etc but I think one of the things I had the most fun doing was the childish fun - swimming in the fountains. The campus at FSC was beautiful with lots of fountains. It was always the thing to do to sneak around and put Mr. Bubble and some food coloring in the fountains so the next day all could see the funny display as you walked past them either to the Library or to class or to the Chapel as the spilled bright orange bubbles.

Campus security would walk the campus at night or be on bikes. So to swim in any if the fountains you needed a lookout! We would jump in fully clothed in our PJs and swim, add some bubbles and play, splash the heck out of each other and practically empty some of the smaller fountains! Once someone got a glimpse of security we had to run like hell to get back to the house or to a hiding spot that would conceal our wet and giggling selves.

Nice and juvenile huh??? But it was fun! :)

    Parenting Dilemma

I feel so heart broken about this and I have no idea how to handle it or what to say. Our plan after the baby was born and old enough to leave our room before we move out of this house into a larger one was to put Bam-Bam and The Professor in a room together and then Lil' Michaleangelo and the baby would room together. Hubby and I were discussing this a bit last night and The Professor heard us. He asked if he could share a room with Lil' Mikey instead of Bam-Bam. When hubby asked him why he said because he likes Lil' Michaleangelo better. Now I know he is closer to Lil' mikey than Bam-Bam because there are a lot of things that Bam-Bam is still unable to do that makes him younger in developmental years than Lil' mikey, but I was so shocked to hear him say it that I didn't know what to say. The Professor immediately dropped his head and said he was sorry when he saw my face (I was ready to cry) and hubby assured him that he never had to apologize for how he felt when he was talking to us and thanked him for being honest but I still could not say a thing to him. He went to bed after that and I was in such shock I couldn't even discuss it with hubby. I have no idea how to handle this one. I know it has to be hard for The Professor to deal with having a brother like Bam-Bam sometimes who is old enough to be able to do things that he can just not do and who probably embarasses him on occasion, but I do not know what to do about it to help him and make him feel closer to Bam-Bam. Don't get me wrong - he loves his brother, they play together and he is the first to stick up for him, but this situation is just a bit more sticky than I was expecting it to be. I just don't know what to do. I feel like crying.

    Monday Memories

Monday Memories: Did I ever tell you about The Last Day of School Party?

When I was little - from about 18 months until I was about 8 years old we lived in a city in New Jersey called Prospect Park which nowadays you can't walk on certain streets there depending on your race without being shot. At that time it wasn't a great place to live, very cheap and full of lower income families but nothing like it is now. We lived in a three story apartment home. My family lived on the first floor, another family, The D'Angelo's, lived on the second floor and the third floor was just about condemned! We had a good sized yard that we shared. I went to school in Prospect Park from Kindergarten through part of Third Grade before we moved to Lake Stockholm.

At the end of the school year every year my father always made sure summer came with a big bang! The weekend before school was going to end he would setup a small pool in the yard for my sister and me and the two kids upstairs. The last day of school he would go to work in the morning and be home before we got out for the day. That evening we would have a big BBQ outside with the D'Angelo's to celebrate summer starting. Then Dad and Mr. D'Angelo would always disappear at some point and re-appear on the D'Angelo's balcony porch pegging all of us with water balloons. Some would be full of water and some would be full of whipped cream. The yard and all of us would always be such a mess by the end. But it was always such a fun way to start the summer! My father, who is still a big kid at heart all of the years later, says that he always wanted us to remember the fun summer days of being a kid....and I do! :)

    One of those days

Well I don't feel like doing a darn thing today although that seems to be my mantra as of lately!

The kids are off from school. I have already done the last load of laundry and cleaned up most of the house as well as dusted, vacuumed and mopped. I have to have the kids straighten their rooms up and finish cleaning their bathroom. Then I actually have to fold and put away the clothes I washed but I have the rest of the day and most of the night to get that done. I am thinking of heading out of here in about 30 minutes to the park with the kids, then Burger King for lunch, and then run my errands to the paint store and post office. Hubby has basketball tonight (every Friday) so he won't be home until at least 9pm or 10pm. So like I said I have most of the day and night to do everything, so a little putzing at the moment won't kill me.

On the subject of North Carolina, I think we may do it. Hubby is taking over duties at the office now in addition to his general supervisory role to start "training" for it. His boss has really made us a generous offer to take the position including help relocating and finding and getting a home there not to mention making sure his salary would cover my loss of income from here. So how can we really not go??? I think we could all use a change and God knows it would benefit Bam-Bam the most! So for right now, it looks like something we will be doing. Now to break that news to family is going to suck. And of course we have no idea on the actual timetable. We could move there in Fall 2006 or Summer 2007 or anytime in between, before or after. It just all depends. :( So telling everyone will be difficult. Especially my sister who will be heartbroken without my boys around.

The changes around hubby's office right now are insane with a manager being fired and people all nervous about their own jobs (which are not an issue, but one person being let go is all it takes). For the last 2 weeks it has been crazy there. He is working constantly and even when home he has work with him or someone is calling him here about something for work. Hopefully things will calm down there soon now that the old manager's duties have been split and assigned between hubby and a woman who works with him. Guess it will take some time though. I am really trying to be patient with it all but I will admit it certainly is all starting to annoy me more and more, especially in my current moody state. I know the boys are missing their dad so hopefully this weekend he can take a bit of a break from all of it. Or should I rephrase that to say I am going to make him take a break from all of it??? (See!!!! There she is!!! The moody one who creeps in and out with the aching back and child kicking her insides raw!)

    Decisions Decisions

So do we uproot the family in about a year's time or not???

Hubby's office is in the process of trying to open another office in Charlotte, North Carolina area. This presents an opportunity for hubby to go up there and run the new office. A large move for him in the next logical direction for his career. No doubt of how well he will do at this so job security is not any kind of factor for us in this decision.

We will be a family of 6 - 2 adults, 4 kids, plus a dog moving north away from all family and friends and knowing a total of 2 people (2 single men that work with hubby who will most likely also transfer to the new office).

So do we take the plunge and do it??? My concerns of course are how the school system is there and what kind of services they offer for Autism. The whole idea of not having one single person near us to help with the kids, lean on, etc is a scary notion to me, but I think this may be the best decision for our family in the long run. Any state has better services for children with disabilities than the one we live in now so that is a HUGE major plus and notch in the "Pros" column for the move. And that alone could almost seal the deal for me.

I do feel bad for my kids though who will not grow up with their cousins who live here with us now. And the little ones will hardly know their grandparents since two grandmothers will still live in FL and a grandfather is up north in CT. So that is of course a "Con" for the move. Ugh - I hate having to make decisions like this.

Who knows - the whole thing could fall through and never happen and then I won't have to worry about it at all. But I do know that my hubby and his boss will be taking a short trip up there in 3 months to start scouting for the office. Sounds real enough to me that we will need to make some kind of choice here.... and probably soon!

Off to reserach North Carolina some more....

    Monday Memories

Monday Memories: Did I ever tell you about "camping" in Lake Stockholm?

HeeHee...This one is for you, Allison my dear!

I grew up in a small lake community in Northern New Jersey in Sussex County. The lake community itself was pretty big but definitely had the small town feel there. Everyone pretty much knew each other's business...who was getting divorced, who made how much money doing what, and whatever the scandal of the week may have been. Everyone was comfy then with their kids roaming around the neighborhood. We all slept over each other's houses and the summers were one big party!

One year my mother bought me a dome tent with a skylight for some reason (can't remember if it was a birthday or what) but that first day of summer my dear friend Allison and I put it up in my backyard. All summer long we slept out there. Almost every single night. We had it well stocked with blankets and pillows, a few choice stuffed animals (mind you we were in our early teens), a radio complete with our favorite music at the time and oter things I am sure I can't remember. Our other friend Kerry stayed with us some nights too.

We would walk around the lake at night in our PJs and slippers (or barefeet depending) with our teddy bears in hand just talking that fun girl talk at that age about boys, school, family, and our dreams. We had a blast!

At the end of the summer when the tent would come down, we would have a good hour's worth of cleaning it out to do first and then we would laugh at the dead grass underneath it while my father was horrified at his pretty lawn gone bad!

    Great Weekend...Hectic Monday

Today will be a little hectic around here so I am just gonna check in quick and post my Monday Memory later!

This weekend was nice - Saturday after I helped out my MIL, we spent a few hours out with the kids at the park, then we went out for lunch, hit the mall for a few things we had to pick up and came home. Hubby and I were in bed asleep by 10pm! The day wore us out as much as the kids.

Sunday was my baby shower at my mother's house. We had lots of fun. My mother is definitely the Queen of Parties and the Hostess with the Most-ess! She knows how to entertain as she should seeing as that is her business! Everything was very nice - blue bears, blue flowers, balloons, etc for the decor. The menu was a "Ladies Lunch" with Chicken Caesar Salads and all kinds of small breads and muffins. She had a chocolate fountain out with pretzels and fruits for dipping. The we had a beautiful baby bear cake that we were sad to have to cut! We played some fun games - my favorite being able to watch 3 women suck down juice out of a baby bottle the fastest! I got tons of great gifts - tons of clothes which I really needed since I have given everything baby we had away except our crib and changing table thinking we were through having kids. So we are starting over wiht all of the clothes and products which almost feels odd! So the shower was great! I have already started on my thank you cards and need to finish them up some time today.

Bam-Bam had a fever last night and went to bed early. He woke up this morning still slightly warm so he is home with Lil' Michaelangelo and I. I need to reorganize and make some space for all of our new baby stuff today that way the kdis don't get into it too much and ruin anything! I also have some work to get started on and some other house things to do. So I will be a bit bus today and will be back on later....
